Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! :)

Thought I would check in, haven't blogged in quite a bit....not too sure why, hopefully one of these days I will begin blogging more again!

 

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! :) I was lucky enough to have all my family in town, and had a great time with them! We had lots of visitors, and I praticed some more on my "cooking skills". Never been the best cook, but it is always great to have my mom there to help me through it, hehe...

 

 

Roxy had a great Christmas too! She is loving her present!

 

 

I made my normal peanut butter chocolate buckeyes that I do every Christmas. They are so yummy. My grandma used to make them every Christmas, and I am glad that I can now carry on her tradition.

 

 

Anyways, just wanted to check in, hope everyone has a great New Year's as well! :) Time to kick my "diet" and my "running" back into gear...I have been taking a mini break, and definitely need to get back into the swing of things! :)

Hey There! :) Remember Me?!?

First off....don't know why I am in such a blogging funk! :) Haven't been blogging nearly as much as I used to, hopefully it will pass!  Can't believe it's already Mid-October! It will be Christmas before you know it!

 

This past weekend I kept myself pretty busy! :) Saturday morning I rode with my high-school friend Lindsey and her mom to my friend Melissa's baby shower! (Linds was in town from NC, it was nice to see her and her fam!) The shower was super cute!! :) Glad I was able to make it...

 

After I got back home, the hubby and I decided we were going to have a date night....We wanted to go see a movie...It was a toss up between "Sinister" or "Taken 2". We finally decided on Taken 2 and I am glad we did, it was an awesome movie! :) After that we went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant "Firebirds". Yummmm! :)

 

On Sunday, I ran a 5K that was taking place in the county. I gotta say...since running the Half-Marathon back in Sept. I have not had the desire to run...I kind of just wanted a little break...so this run was the 1st one I had signed up for since the half.  3.1 miles was a breeze compared to 13.1. I think I will stick with the 5K's for a while, lol.

 

Sunday afternoon, I went to the pumpkin patch, needed to spruce up the front porch a little...



 

I was happy with my choice! :) Not sure how I will decorate it...I have seen a few neat ideas on pinterest...

Virginia Beach Rock N Roll Half Marathon

This past weekend was the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in VA Beach! :) On Friday, I left work a little early so I could head down to the Expo Center to get all my race goodies for the Sunday run.

 

While at the expo, I ended up getting a new pair of ear buds (I bought some SnuggBuds and I love them! :) I also ended up getting a SPIBELT as well...(the girls like to call it my "Mini Fanny Pack")

 

Sunday Morning I woke up super early, and made it over to where the race started (about an hour early) which is fine by me, better to be early than late, right?!  The race started, and it was definitely tough. The humidity was awful!

 

My finish time:

2:46:41

 

This half-marathon was my second one. I decided VERY last minute back in May that I was going to try and do the Marine Corps Historic Half. My finish time for that race was 2:44:12. I really wanted to try and beat my time....and I was sooo close. I was dissapointed that I wasn't able to. The humidity really took a toll.

oh, and after I finished the race, I got to see one of my best friends from college (ZTA Sister and bridesmaid in my wedding) Her and her parents were there at the finish line and I was sooo happy to see them! :) It had been over a year and a half (maybe even longer) since I had last seen them all!

All in all, it was a great weekend! :) I got to complete my first Rock N Roll Half Marathon! Yay! :)

Less than a month...

Can't believe the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in VA Beach is right around the corner....It seems like just yesterday when the girls convinced me to sign up for it! :) I am very anxious/excited for the day to finally get here. It will be my first Rock N Roll Half Marathon. I hear they are a lot of fun! :)

So all of us girls have decided we are going to have a "Yellow & Pink" outfit theme.....I have bought all my goodies already....

And of course....why not get a new pair of shoes to match! :) The store didn't have my size, so I had to order them online instead. They should  be arriving any day now and I am super excited! :) These are BY FAR my favorite purchase! I can't even remember the last time I bought myself a new pair of running shoes. It's been a while. I love that they are ALL HOT PINK! :)

Oh...and last but not least I bought some of this....It helps with skin irritation when running...I heard this "balm" is great for long runs! :)

Any other must-haves I should pick up??

It's Furbaby Friday!

This was taken last week at my parents house....I am surprised I was able to get a good pic, here lately Roxy realizes that whenever she sees my iPad or my iPhone, a photo-shoot is beginning and she will quickly jump off the couch or turn her head, LOL. :)

Okay....so I know this may not be a super exciting thing to blog about, but Scott and I just got a new shed! :) We really needed to free up some space in our garage, so it was much needed....

Our Anniversary Week! :)

Wow....I can't believe it's been a WHOLE month since I posted last, wow! Not too many exciting things to blog about this past month I guess, haha...

...but now that the hubby and I both had off work ALL last week...I have lots to blog about now! :)

The hubby and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary on July 17th! :) Last year we went to the beach, this year we decided we were going to rent a cabin. We went to Mountain Lake (One of the locations where Dirty Dancing was filmed) Very relaxing.... I joked with Scott that we could even get "private dance lessons". It was a no-go, haha.

The morning before we arrived at Mountain Lake, my parents joined us and we went hiking to a local waterfall (The Cascades).  It's about a 2 mile hike out, it's definitely worth the hike! :) I hadn't been there in years, so it was nice to go back.

We had such a relaxing week! It went by WAYYYY to fast! We got to spend a lot of time with my parents too which I always enjoy! :) With them being about 4 1/2 hours away from us...I treasure every minute I get to see them! :)

To Try: A Favorite Things Party!

I keep seeing these "Favorite Things Parties" all over Pinterest, and each time I do, it makes me want to try and organize one of my own! :) 

I think it would be an awesome "Girl's Night Idea"

Here is the idea behind the whole party:

*You have a hostess, who would be MUAH in this case! :) She would provide lots and lots of fun drinks & martinis ofcourse!
*You invite a bunch of the girls over to the house. (Everyone can bring their favorite dish/appetizer)
*Each girl will bring their favorite item, but they would bring 3 of them. (I have noticed this number can vary depending on what you personally want to do)
*A price limit will be set on your gifts...say $10.00 to $15.00 or so, so each person is looking at spending about $30.00 to $45.00 dollars total.
*The girls will bring over their gifts. I will set up a nice table, where all the gifts can be displayed. I would also pre-make bags for each guest so they have something to put all their favorite items in!
*Each guest will take turns, going to the table and picking out a favorite item they want to take home! Everyone will do this 3 times, so when you leave, you have 3 favorite things you will be able to take home in your bags! :) 

No matter how many people end of coming, if each person brings 3 items, everyone should be able to go home with 3 items, it will always come out that way! :)  The other great thing about this whole party idea is that you can change all the numbers around and it still works. If you have everyone bring 10 gifts each, everyone will go home with 10 gifts. Also, you can lower the cost of the favorite items as well. If you are bringing 10 of the same item, you may want to lower the cost to $5.00 an item, etc... So many different possibilities!

I am thinking this would be a great idea for around the holidays, instead of a Christmas Party, you could just do a party like this! :)

Bachelorette Party!

Marine Corps Historic-Half

On Sunday, I ran my very first half marathon EVER! :) I decided the day before that I was going to sign up (I know, super last minute)

A few weekends ago, while I was running around the neighborhood (training for the Half Marathon I just signed up for in Sept.) I decided that I was going to try and run 13.1 miles, since it was really nice out on that paticular day. I just wanted to see if I could do it.  (My training plan only had me doing around 6 miles on that day) I was so happy when I actually was able to complete those 13.1 miles. It was such a great feeling.....and then that's where THIS race popped into my head. I kept telling myself, I ran 13.1 miles a few weeks ago, I can do it again!

I called up my friend Angie, who had been signed up for this run for a while and I asked her if I could meet up with her so we could ride over together. She said SURE! :) So I woke up bright and early and drove up to her house. Her husband Chad drove us over there and dropped us off.  I was super nervous because I had never ever attempted a half marathon before.  5Ks, I had been in plenty, but nothing farther than that.

The race started at 7:00AM, and it took me about 2 hours and 44 minutes to complete it. I was very happy with my time, I would have been happy with any time though, just as long as I could say that I completed the race! :)

I can't stopped staring at my "medal" hehe... I am really looking forward to the Rock N Roll Half Marathon that I am doing in Sept. I have proved to myself that I can accomplish a half and now I am super excited for the next one! :)
