To Try: A Favorite Things Party!
I keep seeing these "Favorite Things Parties" all over Pinterest, and each time I do, it makes me want to try and organize one of my own! :)
I think it would be an awesome "Girl's Night Idea"
Here is the idea behind the whole party:
*You invite a bunch of the girls over to the house. (Everyone can bring their favorite dish/appetizer)
*Each girl will bring their favorite item, but they would bring 3 of them. (I have noticed this number can vary depending on what you personally want to do)
*A price limit will be set on your gifts...say $10.00 to $15.00 or so, so each person is looking at spending about $30.00 to $45.00 dollars total.
*The girls will bring over their gifts. I will set up a nice table, where all the gifts can be displayed. I would also pre-make bags for each guest so they have something to put all their favorite items in!
*Each guest will take turns, going to the table and picking out a favorite item they want to take home! Everyone will do this 3 times, so when you leave, you have 3 favorite things you will be able to take home in your bags! :)
No matter how many people end of coming, if each person brings 3 items, everyone should be able to go home with 3 items, it will always come out that way! :) The other great thing about this whole party idea is that you can change all the numbers around and it still works. If you have everyone bring 10 gifts each, everyone will go home with 10 gifts. Also, you can lower the cost of the favorite items as well. If you are bringing 10 of the same item, you may want to lower the cost to $5.00 an item, etc... So many different possibilities!
I am thinking this would be a great idea for around the holidays, instead of a Christmas Party, you could just do a party like this! :)

Marine Corps Historic-Half
On Sunday, I ran my very first half marathon EVER! :) I decided the day before that I was going to sign up (I know, super last minute)
A few weekends ago, while I was running around the neighborhood (training for the Half Marathon I just signed up for in Sept.) I decided that I was going to try and run 13.1 miles, since it was really nice out on that paticular day. I just wanted to see if I could do it. (My training plan only had me doing around 6 miles on that day) I was so happy when I actually was able to complete those 13.1 miles. It was such a great feeling.....and then that's where THIS race popped into my head. I kept telling myself, I ran 13.1 miles a few weeks ago, I can do it again!
I called up my friend Angie, who had been signed up for this run for a while and I asked her if I could meet up with her so we could ride over together. She said SURE! :) So I woke up bright and early and drove up to her house. Her husband Chad drove us over there and dropped us off. I was super nervous because I had never ever attempted a half marathon before. 5Ks, I had been in plenty, but nothing farther than that.
The race started at 7:00AM, and it took me about 2 hours and 44 minutes to complete it. I was very happy with my time, I would have been happy with any time though, just as long as I could say that I completed the race! :)
I can't stopped staring at my "medal" hehe... I am really looking forward to the Rock N Roll Half Marathon that I am doing in Sept. I have proved to myself that I can accomplish a half and now I am super excited for the next one! :)

Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday!

Yep, I signed up for a HALF MARATHON!
Last Friday, I registered online for the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon taking place in Virginia Beach. Have I ever ran a Half Marathon before?! Nope! Have I ever ran a 10K, Nope! The longest race I have been in, a 5K. A few of my friends, (one in particular, Miss Shahanna) helped motivate me. 13.1 miles is a bit overwhelming to me right now, but I keep telling myself...I have been able to walk 13.1 miles straight, so why not try to jog a little more and accomplish something like this. The race isn't until Sept. 2, so I feel like I have plenty of time to train. The Marine Half-Marathon is taking place close to my house next month, but I just feel like that would be way to difficult for me, being that it is next month. 13.1 miles, ahahhhh, I hope I can do this. I have starting training already, and am on my second week. I just need to keep telling myself, I can do this. Any tips/training advice from people who have accomplished something like this before?

Easter Weekend...
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! :) Scott, myself & the pup made a trip down to visit my parents this weekend...It was sooooo relaxing, and it went by entirely too fast! :)
